GA State Advocate Champions Fire Corps at Fire-Rescue International

Fire-Rescue International 2011 (FRI) was held from August 23-27 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA.  Workshops and seminars were held throughout the week, with an exhibit area open on Friday and Saturday. Fire Corps State Advocates and volunteers dedicated their time and energy to making sure that FRI was a success.

Georgia Fire Corps Advocate Beth Burgess rallied volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks that helped make FRI possible. She sent out a call to all Fire Corps programs in Georgia to find volunteers to assist with conference planning and staffing, classroom set-up, and pre-conference work. Burgess recruited a total of 50 Fire Corps members to help with the event.

Burgess and California Fire Corps Advocate Warren Savage also helped staff the Fire Corps exhibit booth during the event. Hundreds of attendees stopped by the booth to learn more about the program and pick up free resources and materials for implementing, managing, and expanding a local program.

Fire Corps appreciates the hard work of Burgess, Savage, and all of the Fire Corps volunteers who contributed to the success of FRI.
