2014 National Volunteer Fire Council Training Summit: Call for Presentations
Proposals due by February 2, 2014
The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a Training Summit on June 20-21, 2014, in Myrtle Beach, SC. The NVFC is now accepting proposals from qualified instructors and speakers for presentations to educate first responders about important health and safety topics and/or fire prevention methodologies and implementation. Submit your proposal by February 2, 2014.
The Training Summit provides an opportunity to share ideas and best practices, network, and participate in training regarding first responder health and safety issues and fire prevention topics. Each workshop will be 90 minutes in length. Presentation subject matter should relate to one of the two main subject areas:
- Health and Safety – The NVFC’s health and safety initiatives are organized into a series of B.E.S.T. Practices, which divides topics into Behavior, Equipment, Standards and Codes, and Training. Presentations should fall into one of these four categories. Examples include (but are not limited to): Cardiovascular health, vehicle safety, injury prevention, equipment maintenance and replacement, and behavioral health.
- Fire Prevention – Presentations should address local fire prevention and safety program needs. Examples include (but are not limited to): Educational messaging, volunteer management, youth in public education, planning for rural communities, and the fire hazards of hoarding.
To submit your speaker proposal, fill out the form at https://nvfc.wufoo.com/forms/nvfc-training-summit-speaker-proposal/. Proposals are due by February 2, 2014. A peer review team will evaluate all presentation proposals. Selections will be made based on quality, relevance, focus, practical application, and the presenter’s experience and credentials. The NVFC will cover travel expenses for the selected presenters.
