Grant Information

Fire Corps is intended to be a low or no cost program, a marketing tool for departments to harness the willingness of their community to help while learning more about their customers, the citizens they serve. But we also recognize that depending on your individual department type and situation there are some costs associated with the programs and some opportunities to enhance how you promote your programs do cost money. There are several grants and other grass root ideas that are available to fire and EMS departments as possible opportunities to obtain funds to kick-off, support, and make more robust your Fire Corps efforts.

• Citizen Corps Funding. As a Citizen Corps program registered Fire Corps programs are eligible to apply for grants through Citizen Corps. Citizen Corps grants are distributed at the state level and each state is different in its process. • Fire Service Funding. There are several fire service opportunities available that you can find information on through the U. S. Fire Administration. Their page contains information on financial assistance available from the U.S. Fire Administration and other Federal agencies for fire departments and other first responders. Highlighted information includes the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance and ideas for funding alternatives. • Local and National Foundations, Businesses, and Benevolent Organizations. Many local and national organizations provide grants to causes in their community. And the donations can be more then just cash, in-kind services can be a major benefit you can obtain from local businesses that make a difference. Possibly a t-shirt shop will donate shirts or services towards your program, or maybe a local award shop or business will sponsor awards for the Fire Corps members. Many times it just takes asking in a professional manner to gain the support of local businesses.
